A Thousand Thoughts
Mixed media on canvas
48" x 36"
Look into it and the eye never stops moving. Thousands of splatters, flicks and threads of color crowd the canvas: crimson, emerald, cobalt, tangerine, bubblegum pink, turquoise and touches of black, all scattered over a creamy white ground. Some marks are thick and glossy, others fine as hair, and in places the layers build into rough, crusted texture. A band of muted gold frames the top and bottom edges, holding the swirl in place. Mandie worked in a flurry, flinging and dripping paint from every direction, never planning where the next mark would fall. It captures the restless beauty of a busy mind, crowded, colorful and full of life.
Endlessly engaging, it makes a lively companion for a home office, a studio or a family room where conversation flows. A clean backdrop of white walls lets its thousands of marks shine, while black accents and a bright pillow or two keep the room crisp.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
