Another Dawn
Mixed media on canvas
18" x 24"
Soft bands of color sweep diagonally across the canvas, as gentle as the first light sliding over a sleeping town. Dusty rose and warm peach rise in the upper corner, giving way to a wide river of pale cream, then to sage, sea green and a misty blue that fades into lilac at the edge. There are no hard lines anywhere. Everything is breath and haze, the paint laid down in fine spray so the colors melt into one another, flecked here and there with tiny sparkles. Mandie built the gradient slowly, layer upon whispering layer, until the surface seemed to glow on its own. It holds the tender promise that whatever the night was like, morning comes again.
Soft and hopeful, it is the kind of painting you want to see first thing in the morning. Hang it across from the bed or in a breakfast room, with blush or warm cream walls, pale oak, rattan and gauzy curtains catching the early light.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
