Arpeggio
Mixed media on canvas
48" x 30"
Stripe after stripe climbs the canvas on a steep diagonal, each one a note played in quick, rising succession. Teal, white and navy sweep down the left, then gold, cobalt and a flash of red, while along the upper right the music grows brighter: lime, rose, lilac and lemon racing side by side. Fine spray gives every band a soft, powdery edge, so the colors seem to hum and vibrate where they meet. Mandie sprayed each line in a single confident motion, building the rhythm by instinct rather than plan. The effect is pure movement, a cascade of color that seems to ripple upward. It is a painting full of energy and lightness, a song of joyful rhythm.
Who wouldn't want this rising music above a piano or a long sofa? Its bright diagonal stripes energize a living room, a music room or a stairwell, and feel right with navy upholstery, white oak and a few bright accents in lime or rose.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
