Aubade III
Mixed media on canvas
10" x 10"
One long stroke of yellow stretches diagonally across a deep teal night, as if a single ray of sun had slipped through a gap in the curtains. At its center, the paint has wrinkled into a small, intricate patch of ridges, like skin warming in the light or the surface of a leaf. Lime green glows along its edges, and the dark ground around it shows soft cracks and faint smudges of moss and blue. Mandie tilted the canvas, letting the yellow run in its chosen direction, and the wrinkles appeared as the paint dried on its own. The piece carries the quiet thrill of waking up and finding the world already bright.
Think of a bedroom just as the curtains are drawn back. That is where this piece feels most natural, above a nightstand or beside a window seat. Its yellow and deep teal sit gracefully with oak furniture, soft wool throws and a warm reading lamp.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
