Aubade V
Mixed media on canvas
10" x 10"
Rounded and soft, a yellow form rests on a dark teal ground like a bird settling on a branch or a cloud lit by the rising sun. Lime green glows along its left side, and small bubbles dot the surface where the paint breathed as it dried. Below, splashes of olive and khaki spill outward in loose, playful drips, while the upper right dissolves into a lacy pattern of fine cells and feathery veins. Mandie let the colors collide, welcoming the splashes and the lace they left behind. The piece feels light and tender, a small morning song sung softly to begin the day.
Gentle and settled, this small panel feels at home on a shelf among books and ceramics or on a hallway wall you pass each morning. The yellow and dark teal echo olive green cushions, brass accents and the warm grain of walnut.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
