Aubade VI
Mixed media on canvas
10" x 10"
A full, glowing oval of yellow leans across the canvas, its surface traced with faint veins like the lines of an open palm. Near its base, the yellow warms into a blush of peach and rose, as if catching the first color of sunrise. Around it, the night is still lifting: deep navy on the left, marbled with lilac and teal swirls, and a soft olive haze rising on the right like mist burning off a field. Mandie released the yellow and let it spread wide, drying into its own soft contours and tiny bubbles. It glows with warmth and quiet gratitude, the gentle feeling of light returning after a long night.
With its blush of peach and rose, this is the warmest of the series and a sweet choice for a bedroom or dressing area. It looks lovely against warm plaster or soft sage walls, near a ceramic lamp and a vase of garden roses.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
