Babbling Joy
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Listen closely and you can almost hear it chatter. A lively green stream winds down the center, curling into a little hook at the top before wriggling its way to the bottom, its glossy skin full of tiny bubbles and rusty speckles. Around it, everything is in conversation: a bright red line racing alongside, golden dashes skipping between them, deep crimson pooling and dripping on the right, and silvery gray and black strokes tapping out a rhythm on the left. Red dots scatter like laughter. Mandie poured quickly and let the colors run into one another, delighting in where they chose to go. The whole panel bubbles over with the simple happiness of moving water and good company.
Lively and funny, it would bring a smile to a playroom, a kitchen or a narrow hallway full of family noise. The glossy green and rust tones look great with bright cabinets, woven baskets and sunny yellow accents.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
