Barcarolle
Mixed media on panel
48" x 48"
Gentle blues rock back and forth across the panel like water lapping against a boat. Electric cobalt pours down from blocks at the top, falling in long, thin lines through soft layers of sky blue, cerulean and aqua. Shadowed shapes of deeper sea green drift beneath the surface like reflections under a canal at dusk. Some drips are bold and saturated, others pale and ghostly, so the whole piece seems to ripple and sway. Mandie poured and sprayed in layers, letting each new color settle over the one before, and allowing chance to shape the rhythm. It is soothing and dreamy, a lullaby rendered entirely in blue.
Soothing and fluid, its gentle blues bring the feeling of water to a primary bedroom or a spa-like bathroom. Pair it with white oak, crisp cotton bedding and a pale aqua vase, or let it anchor a calm living room above a cream sofa.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
