Barely There
Mixed media on panel
10" x 8"
Everything here is soft as a breath on cold glass. Clouds of gray, cornflower blue and sea green drift across a pale ground, while a gentle oval of moss green floats near the center and a warm peach glow rises from below like the first light at the horizon. Fine speckles of white, gold and deep blue settle over it all, so delicate you have to lean in to find them. Mandie built the image with light veils of spray, letting one color fade into another until the edges disappeared. The painting asks for nothing and gives quiet in return, a gentle presence you feel more than see.
Softness is its gift. Let it rest in a nursery, a guest bedroom or a reading corner where the light is gentle and the pace is slow. Its misty grays, blues and peach blend gracefully with warm plaster, cream boucle and pale washed linen.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
