Before It Was Said
Mixed media on panel
24" x 18"
Words gather on the tongue, ready to spill. Thick navy pours down from the top in long, wandering strands, crossing a bright patchwork of sunflower yellow, hot raspberry and minty sea green. Some drips run all the way to the bottom edge, others pause midway, as if they changed their minds. The colors beneath are soft and sprayed, with a velvety grain, while the blue sits raised and glossy on top, full of tiny ridges and pooled ends. Mandie poured with abandon and let each line travel freely, delighting in where it chose to land. The painting holds that charged, hopeful feeling of everything you have not said yet, but soon will.
Set above a desk in a home office or creative studio, this canvas is the kind of piece that sparks ideas on a slow afternoon. Its navy pours and raspberry patchwork look sharp on a pale plaster wall, with stacked books, a leather chair and a bit of brass to ground it.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
