Bolero
Mixed media on panel
20" x 16"
A swirl of color turns and turns at the left of the panel, built from thick, ridged strokes of scarlet, tangerine, cobalt and gold that circle like a skirt in motion. Across from it, a bright yellow sun flings out long, raised rays, each one thick and creamy enough to cast its own small shadow. Between them, a glow of fresh green spreads like a stage lit from within, framed by a halo of white mist against a cool gray ground. Two pale blue patches of textured paint anchor the corners, carved with short, scraped marks. Mandie layered and swept the paint with insistent, rhythmic gestures, letting the momentum build. The painting pulses with a slow, rising intensity, warm and irresistible.
Spirited and rhythmic, Bolero adds a dash of drama to a dining nook, a powder room, or the wall beside a bar. Cobalt or deep red walls, brass sconces, and dark wood give its swirling color a warm, theatrical setting for evenings with friends.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
