Brewing
Mixed media on panel
22" x 30"
A heavy swirl of white rolls across the panel like a cloud bank gathering strength, its thick paste dragged in long, curving furrows over deep cobalt. To the right, a bruise of plum and violet spreads outward, flecked with gold, while a small orange sun peeks through from the upper corner. Below, warm ochre, mossy green and a sliver of rose settle like land beneath the coming weather. Every stroke is tactile: ridges, peaks and scraped channels where the knife pulled the color along. Mandie built the storm in layers, pushing the white over wet blue and letting the two mingle where they would. Charged and expectant, it captures the moment before something important arrives.
Moody and dramatic, Brewing loves a room with a little depth: a navy study, a reading corner with a leather chair, a hallway lit by warm lamps. Its cobalt and plum feel richer in the evening, and touches of brass echo the flecks of gold.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
