Buried Hope
Mixed media
14" x 11"
Beneath a wash of warm gold, something is waiting. A round, speckled form glows near the center, its edge crusted with deep teal granules like seeds pressed into soil, its middle softened to a green haze dotted with tiny flecks of light. Above it, swirling ribbons of ochre and honey unfurl like a fan or a flower beginning to open. The whole surface feels sunlit and slightly grainy, the color settling into fine pools and pits. Mandie layered and poured, then let the pigment separate and gather in its own patterns, never forcing what lay below to the surface. It carries the patient faith of a bulb in winter, sure of the light it cannot yet see.
Hang it somewhere you pause each morning: a bathroom wall, a desk nook, a small spot near the coffee. Warm gold and deep teal look lovely with terracotta, stoneware, and a little green plant that repeats its idea of something quietly growing.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
