Calm
Mixed media on panel
20" x 20"
Sea glass and early spring, washed together in one soft breath. A field of aqua and pale teal fills the panel, its surface gently crinkled and creased, while a few clouds of pale lime float across it in loose, broken shapes. Thin veins of deeper blue trace through the texture like currents seen from a cliff top, or the lines on an open hand. Nothing hurries. Mandie pressed and layered the surface, letting each crease and ripple form where it fell, and the quiet shapes appeared on their own. There is great tenderness in its restraint, the stillness of a morning tide that asks nothing of you but to breathe.
Soft and cooling, Calm settles easily into a bedroom or a quiet bath where mornings start slowly. Hang it against pale gray or warm plaster, with a little rattan and a trailing plant nearby, and let it bring a sense of sea air to the room every day.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
