Calm Within
Mixed media on panel
8" x 8"
In the middle of falling rain, a small sun keeps glowing. Dark lines of navy run down a pale, chalky ground, beginning in a crackled band of tiny jewel cells at the top: pink, lime, violet and gold. At the heart of the panel, the drips gather into a deep blue pool, and from its center blooms a lacy burst of yellow, bright and textured like pollen or a flame seen up close. Mandie let gravity draw every line and allowed the pour to open in its own time. Small as it is, the work holds a quiet certainty, a steady light that no weather can reach.
Hang it near the place where your day begins or ends: a dresser, a bedside, a small wall by the door. Navy and soft chalk tones, a brass dish, and a candle make a calm little vignette that steadies the mood each morning.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
