Cantilena I
Mixed media and resin on panel
8" x 8"
Warm gold and amber fill the panel like honey in sunlight, and from the upper left, soft sage and sky blue pour down in slender, rounded drips that end in small, shining beads. On the right, deeper ochre bands descend quietly within the golden ground, almost like shadows of the drips beside them. The resin finish gives everything a smooth, glassy depth, so the color seems lit from within. Mandie let the paint flow, then sealed the moment under a clear, glowing layer. It sings softly and sweetly, warm as a sunlit afternoon, with a gentle sense of grace.
Small and serene, it is a lovely piece for a nightstand, a kitchen shelf or a gallery wall. Honey-toned wood, sage green ceramics and soft lamplight flatter its golden glow, and it groups beautifully with the other works in the Cantilena series.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
