Caprice
Mixed media on canvas
40" x 30"
Two great pools of glossy navy tumble across the surface in opposite directions, as if a playful wind had tossed them about. Around each one, bright ribbons of tangerine, lemon, magenta and turquoise flare out in rainbow trails, and pale sky blue runs alongside in thin, bubbly rivulets. In the middle, the pours stretch and split into ribbons that cross a seam, where blocks of warm, honey-toned ground meet at quiet angles. The paint is thick and shiny, full of small bubbles and soft, rounded edges. Mandie poured with abandon and let the colors slide and break wherever they wished. The result is whimsical, spontaneous and full of mischief, a burst of pure fun.
For an apartment that loves color, this playful canvas makes a lively centerpiece above a sofa or in a busy family room. Navy upholstery, a tangerine throw and modern brass lighting tie the space to its spinning trails of rainbow.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
