Carry Me I
Mixed media on canvas
48" x 30"
A bright raft of color floats on a slant across the canvas, its long sides made of parallel pours: navy and turquoise on the outside, then lemon, apricot and, at the very heart, a wandering line of red. At the top and bottom, the streams tangle into knots of aqua, lime and scarlet, as if the raft had been tied off at both ends. Around it, the white ground is pieced with warm, wood-toned corners, giving the whole composition a sense of journey. Where the navy thins, it breaks into a delicate, grainy lace. Mandie poured these lines in long passes and let them hold together on their own. It feels steady and protective, like being held safely over moving water.
Wide and buoyant, Carry Me I is a natural above a sofa, a long console, or a dining sideboard. Navy and apricot accents, pale oak, and a woven rug echo its colorful raft. Hung with Carry Me II and III, it becomes a striking series.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
