Chorale
Mixed media on panel
20" x 16"
Many voices come together inside a single frame of soft gray. Thick, dragged strokes of paint run vertically through it: lemon yellow and cream on the left, glinting with touches of white, then green and teal at the center, and a deep, rich burgundy on the right. Each color streaks and blends into its neighbor, the paint pulled downward in long, ridged trails that catch the light. Around it all, a calm navy ground holds the music still. Mandie laid on generous amounts of paint and drew them down in single sweeps, letting the colors mix as they would. It feels like harmony made visible, many different tones rising as one.
Measured and musical, Chorale sits well in a study, a music room, or above a piano. It loves cool gray or warm stone surroundings, with oak shelves and a few ceramics, where its vertical strokes add quiet structure and a little sunlight to the room.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
