Cleansing Rain
Mixed media on panel
36" x 24" x 2.5"
After a long dry spell, the first rain arrives in streams. Cobalt and navy fall along the outer edges, then sky blue, aqua and spring green, warming toward the middle where yellow, tangerine and a deep red pour down side by side. The colors mirror each other across the panel, cool to warm and back again, like a world being rinsed clean from the edges in. Their glossy surfaces are freckled with small bubbles and pooled at the bottom where each line came to rest, and soft gray mist drifts behind them. Mandie poured and let the panel tilt, trusting the paint to choose its pace. The feeling is fresh and renewing, a deep breath after the storm has passed.
Fresh and renewing, this canvas feels right in a bathroom, a mudroom or a bright kitchen where each day starts clean. Its mirrored streams pair well with blue-and-white tile, a eucalyptus bundle and brushed steel, or with soft sage walls in a bedroom.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
