Closer to the Sun
Mixed media on panel
12" x 12"
Warm gold light fills the whole panel, and within it, circles of color gather like planets basking in the same sunshine. A tangerine disc glows at the lower left, soft and matte. Above it, a chartreuse sphere crackles with a fine white line, wrapped in a ring of tiny white dots. On the right, a cool blue orb spins in concentric rings against a pocket of deep navy, the one shadow in all that brightness, and gold spray drifts between them like pollen in summer air. The rings and cracks formed by themselves as the paint dried, small gifts from the materials. The whole painting feels like turning your face toward warmth and simply staying there.
Sun-warmed and glowing, it would bring a golden mood to a breakfast nook, a sunroom or a living room corner that sees afternoon light. Its gold and tangerine look rich with terracotta, honey oak and caramel leather, and a hanging plant or two.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
