Cloud Cathedral
Mixed media on canvas
48" x 48"
Columns of cloud rise and arch overhead as if the sky had built itself a place to pray. Soft bands of peach and cream frame a cool cobalt hollow on the left, while a smoky gray pillar climbs through the center and a glow of butter yellow spreads at the lower right. Washes of blush, lilac and pale green slip between them, everything blurred and luminous, as though seen through stained glass on a misty morning. Mandie built the space with countless veils of sprayed color, letting each one drift and settle where it wanted. The result is vast and airy, full of hushed light and a gentle, uplifting sense of awe.
Late afternoon light suits it best, when its towering clouds seem to glow from within. Hang it in a double-height living room, a stairwell or a large bedroom, with soft peach and cream textiles, pale stone and a touch of brass.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
