Counting Blessings
Mixed media on panel
18" x 24"
Rows of molded plastic rings, each cradling a bright dot of lemon yellow, are arranged in neat clusters across a tray of rich turquoise. They gather in fours and sixes, in pairs of squares and little bridges, filling the compartments with a cheerful, orderly rhythm, while one quiet open space is left in the upper right, as if waiting for more good things to come. The forms are glossy and dimensional, casting soft shadows across the painted surface. Mandie repurposed everyday plastic pieces and gave them new life through color and arrangement. The result is playful, joyful and full of gratitude for the small, good things.
Playful and orderly at once, this piece is a natural fit for a kitchen, a craft room, or a child's study. Turquoise tile, white cabinetry, and yellow ceramics extend its cheerful palette, and its tactile surface invites a closer look every time you pass.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
