Crossing Over
Mixed media on panel
18" x 18"
Bold red and deep cobalt lock into a diagonal dance across the panel. A great red shape spreads across the upper left, another reaches up from the lower right, and between them a wide river of blue cuts through on the slant, carrying a bright seam of green at its center like a bridge from one side to the other. Touches of yellow and orange spark at the edges, and a lone stroke of indigo rests in the bottom corner. The glossy surface is dotted with tiny bubbles and openings where the white shows through. Mandie poured the reds first, then sent the blue between them, letting each color push and give. It feels brave and hopeful, the moment of finally stepping toward the other side.
Confident and graphic, it brings real presence to an office, an entry or a modern living room. Red and cobalt pop against warm gray walls, and black steel, leather and clean lined furniture let its energy take the lead.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
