Deep Within
Mixed media on panel
24" x 24"
Rings of cobalt and midnight blue gather around a warm sand-colored center, as if you were peering into a pool and watching its depths open. Inside, light rises in veils of lemon, aqua and pale turquoise, dripping downward in soft streaks, while patches of jade float like leaves on the surface. The blue sits thick and rounded at its edges, with small bubbles and ridges, and around it the paint thins into smoky washes that bleed into the ground. Mandie let the colors pool, spread and seep at their own pace, discovering the shape only as it formed. The painting has the hush of looking inward, and of finding brightness hidden at the core.
Square and contemplative, it settles beautifully above a bedroom dresser or a desk where you like to pause and think. Navy or deep teal walls will heighten its sense of depth, while a sandstone lamp base and a woven rattan chair pick up the warm glow at its center.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
