Divided Heart
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Two small gatherings of color sit at opposite ends of this tall panel, with a wide, quiet stretch of white between them. Above, a wavy line of golden yellow wanders through cobalt, aqua and green beside a pool of deep wine red; below, the same family appears again, smaller and more scattered, as though it were remembering the first. A single blue drop floats alone in the open space, small and hopeful. Mandie poured the color in two separate moments and let the distance itself become part of the painting. It speaks tenderly of being pulled two ways, and of a love that lives in both places at once.
Spare and thoughtful, it suits a hallway, a bedroom or the strip of wall beside a reading chair. The jewel tones and generous open space feel calm against soft gray or warm ivory walls, with simple, uncluttered furnishings letting it breathe.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
