Dressed for Joy
Mixed media on panel
30" x 30"
Four bright walls of falling color frame a single blossom of light. Yellow streams down one corner, cherry red another, while teal and marigold drip through the lower half, each quarter dressed in its own festive shade. At the center, a round pour of lime, lemon and cobalt swirls outward like a full skirt mid twirl, its colors marbling into soft folds and glowing pools. Mandie let the drips fall freely and then poured the center, watching the colors bloom and blend on their own. Everything about it feels like getting ready for a celebration, giddy and glad.
Parties, holidays, ordinary Tuesdays: Dressed for Joy makes them all feel festive. Hang it in a dining room, a family room, or an entry, with cherry red, marigold, and teal accents and plenty of daylight to carry its palette through the space.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
