Drifting Thoughts
Mixed media on canvas
60" x 48"
Ideas glide past at a gentle slant, one after another, never quite settling. Ribbons of tangerine, red, sunny yellow, aqua, cobalt, navy and powder blue cross the canvas diagonally over a cross of white planes framed by warm wood-toned corners. Fine gold shimmers between the orange lines, and at the edges pale yellow trails loosen into soft, wandering shapes. Some pours are bold and smooth, others splinter into delicate threads and spatters. Mandie let the paint slide across each surface and over every seam, following it rather than steering it. The painting carries that drifting, open feeling of a mind at rest, light enough to float and bright enough to make you smile.
Its wood-toned corners make it a natural partner for oak or walnut furniture. Hang it in a large living room, a home office or a bright open-plan space, adding powder blue and tangerine accents and a touch of gold to keep its gentle slant of color in focus.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
