Falling Apart
Mixed media on panel
20" x 10"
Darkness gathers at the top of the panel in a heavy, crackled mass of olive and near black, glinting with flecks of yellow and green along its upper edge. From there, things begin to come undone. Red spills down the left side in a broken lattice full of holes, with a small warm pocket of orange caught inside. Black lines run down through the middle, a cool blue drip stretches long and ends in a single round drop, and a yellow thread falls to its own small pool. Mandie let the paint run, crack and separate without stepping in, trusting what it would become. The painting is honest about hard seasons, yet even as it unravels, it glows with surprising color and light.
Moody and expressive, this narrow panel suits a study, a library nook or a dramatic powder room. Its olive and near black tones look rich with dark green walls, aged brass, leather and stone, adding depth to a slim, overlooked space.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
