Fanfare
Mixed media on canvas
40" x 30"
Color arrives like a burst of trumpets. Broad diagonal bands of orange, cobalt, violet, crimson, gold and grass green surge across the canvas, their edges breaking into small stepped blocks that climb like a grand staircase. The paint has been dragged and scraped in short, square strokes, so the layers stutter and shimmer, letting glimpses of the colors below flash through. In the upper right, the energy cools into soft gray and blue, a moment of breath before the next swell. Mandie pulled the color across in bold sweeps and let the textures fall where they would, each step a small surprise. The whole piece rings out with celebration, bright, proud and ready to be heard.
Make it the first thing guests see. In a foyer or a two-story stairwell, this festive canvas makes a grand entrance, and it holds its own above a large sectional too. Gold accents, a jewel-toned rug and dark wood answer its stepped bands of color.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
