Fermata
Mixed media on canvas
48" x 24"
Thick paint stands up from the canvas in heavy, combed ridges, as if the moment itself had been pressed into the surface and held there. Creamy white dominates, layered over streaks of slate blue, navy, blush pink and a single warm stripe of ochre that runs down the center like a ray of late afternoon light. The texture is irresistible: fine parallel grooves, scraped edges and soft peaks where the knife lifted away. Mandie built this surface with a palette knife, pulling and pressing the paint in long vertical strokes and letting the lower colors surface where they wished. It is a quiet, held breath of a painting, gentle and full of grace.
Textured and luminous, its creamy ridges catch the light beautifully in a minimalist living room, a bedroom or a stairwell with a high window. Linen upholstery, pale stone, a navy accent and an ochre cushion will echo its single warm stripe.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
