Flowing Free
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
At the top of this panel, a burst of saffron and coral gathers like sunlight, then lets go, streaming downward in loose ribbons of yellow, orange and red that curl and swing as they fall. The red line on the right is especially free, looping gently before ending in a small hook at the bottom. To the left, a wide column of royal blue moves with the same ease, opening into small white pockets, with a sliver of aqua tucked beside it. Mandie released the paint and let it travel without correction, simply following where it went. Light and loose, it feels like setting down every worry at once.
Joyful and loose, it is lovely in a yoga room, a sunny bedroom or a narrow wall beside a balcony door. The saffron, coral and red glow with warm terracotta, rattan and soft cotton, bringing a carefree summer feeling to the space.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
