Gentle Days I
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Slender lines of sky blue, lime, lemon and tangerine fall from top to bottom like streamers drifting in a summer breeze. Between them, small strokes of cherry red appear and disappear, a few quick heartbeats in an otherwise easy rhythm. Some lines swell into little beads, others thin until they nearly vanish, and a soft blue haze floats across the white ground behind them. Mandie let each pour slide down the panel at its own pace, never guiding it too much. The painting moves gently and lightly, like an afternoon with no clock to watch.
The Gentle Days series was made for grouping, and this first panel starts the rhythm beautifully. Hang two or three side by side along a hallway or above a long dresser. The light, breezy palette sits easily with pale oak, airy cotton and plenty of sunshine.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
