Gentle Days III
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Six colors hang from the top edge like ribbons tied to a branch: indigo, deep navy, grass green, lemon, tangerine and cherry red, each beginning in a rounded drop and stretching downward in a long, wavering line. They sway slightly as they fall, leaning together and drifting apart, some reaching all the way to the bottom and pooling softly there. The pale blue ground behind them is quiet and clean, giving every line space to be seen. Mandie let the paint hang and fall under its own weight, simply watching it go. It feels unhurried and kind, like a slow walk on a mild afternoon.
Ribbons swaying on a branch suggest garden afternoons, so try it in a sunroom, a covered porch or beside a door that opens onto the yard. The indigo, green and cherry play well with rattan, painted wood and striped cushions in summer colors.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
