Gentle Days VI
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
A soft sky opens behind a fall of slender colors. Bright cerulean frames both sides, while green, lemon and amber lines run down in between, and at the center a single red thread stretches and breaks, pausing in small drips before it continues. The ground is misted with the faintest spray of blue, like a cloudless afternoon seen through a window. Here and there a stray blue drop lands on its own, perfectly round. Mandie poured each line from the top and let the panel stand, so every color found its own length. Balanced almost like a reflection, the piece carries a sweet sense of order and ease, the calm of a day that unfolds just as it should.
Airy and bright, this sixth panel works beautifully between two windows, beside a bathroom mirror or on a sunny stair landing. Cerulean framing and fine lines of green and amber look fresh with pale blue walls, rattan and white ceramics.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
