Gentle Days VII
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Color leans into color across a clean white field. A wide violet blue sways down the left, followed by deep navy, then a fresh green that pools into a small square at the top, before yellow, orange and a slim red line complete the procession. Each ribbon wavers and swells as it falls, thick and glossy, ending in rounded little feet near the bottom edge. A few loose drops wander off on their own. Mandie set the colors free at the top of the panel and let them make their own way down, never correcting a single curve. There is something childlike and pure about it, a reminder of simple pleasures and sunny hours with nowhere to be.
Some art simply makes a room feel happier. Hang this panel in a child's room, a playroom or a breakfast nook, alone or beside other Gentle Days pieces. Its violet, green and orange ribbons pair cheerfully with colorful books, painted chairs and sunny cotton fabrics.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
