Gentle Days XI
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Soft blue air surrounds a gentle procession of color. Two cerulean lines frame the edges like the banks of a stream, and within them green, yellow and amber ribbons fall long and fine. Down the middle, red arrives in pieces: a rounded drop at the top, an elongated bead, a slender streak, a small pool near the bottom, each one separate, like notes in a quiet tune. Misted spray gives the ground the softness of a clear sky. Mandie let some colors run long and others break apart, delighting in the difference. The panel feels peaceful and light, a breath of open air after a busy week.
Soft blue air and fine lines of color make this final Gentle Days panel a calm companion for a bedroom, a bathroom or a quiet corridor. Its palette looks gentle with pale blue walls, cotton bedding and light oak, and completes a lovely series grouping.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
