Ghost of a Garden
Mixed media on canvas
48" x 24"
Pale gold and silver sweep upward in long, feathered strokes, like sunlight falling through a greenhouse long abandoned. Through the center, veins of cobalt, teal and leaf green trickle and branch, tracing the shapes of stems, petals and vines that seem to bloom and dissolve at the same time. The surface is richly textured, dragged into fine ridges and pooled into glossy hollows that shift from warm to cool as you move. Mandie poured and pulled the paint, letting the colors run and mingle until a soft presence appeared. The painting is wistful and lovely, a memory of growing things that lingers long after the season has passed.
Hung tall in a stairwell or stretched long above a console, Ghost of a Garden brings a soft shimmer to the room. Its pale gold, silver, and cobalt look lovely with greige walls, glass vessels, aged brass, and a potted fern or two catching the afternoon light.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
