Glissando
Mixed media on panel
24" x 12"
Like fingers sliding across a keyboard, color runs from one note to the next. Cobalt, green, yellow, orange and red step across the panel and then back again, each line wavering in its own rhythm, some smooth and long, others bulging and tightening like a melody rising and falling. The paint sits raised and lustrous, its edges rippled, and at the bottom a few small drops of orange and red scatter like the last notes ringing out. A blush of red softens the top where the colors first touched. Mandie poured the lines and let them flow freely, enjoying every unplanned swell. The panel sings with lightness, playful, musical and full of delight.
A slim vertical piece with a musical pulse, it suits a narrow wall beside a doorway, a hallway, or the space between two windows in a study. Hang it near a piano or a record shelf, against soft gray or warm plaster, and let its bright run of color lift the room.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
