Mixed media on panel
12" x 12"
A sky of glowing red settles over the land like the last warmth of a long, good day. Beneath it, soft peach clouds roll and fold, then give way to a blaze of orange and marigold that flickers upward in small flames and drips. A sliver of spring green and turquoise slips in along the right before everything comes to rest in a deep, quiet sea of cobalt, dotted with tiny bubbles that catch the light. Mandie poured these bands one after another and let them meet as they pleased, so each edge is a little surprise of its own. The whole panel feels like a full heart at sunset, counting what it has been given.
Glowing reds and peaches bring the warmth of a good evening into any small corner. Try it in a kitchen above everyday dishes or on a dining room shelf, with terracotta, copper and warm wood to echo its sunset palette and the feeling of a day well spent.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
