Gray Days
Mixed media on panel
24" x 12"
Charcoal and soft gray trickle down a pale ground like rain running down a window. The lines are speckled and translucent, some heavy and dark, others thin and broken, scattering fine dots and spatters as they fall. And yet, near the center, a flame of color refuses to fade: orange, scarlet and a touch of gold burn bright, with whispers of maroon and a hint of deep green tucked among the grays. Mandie poured and dripped freely, letting the darker inks bead and spread while the warm tones pushed through. The painting holds both moods at once, the heaviness of a gray day and the small, steady warmth that carries us through it.
Rainy afternoons are made for staying in, and this calm vertical canvas captures that cozy mood. Place it in a reading nook, a bathroom or a quiet bedroom, alongside soft gray walls, wool throws, a teapot and a stack of novels.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
