A lion looks out from this canvas with a calm, steady gaze. Its features are drawn in bold, dark lines over warm peach and sandy cream: rounded ears, deep set eyes framed in geometric diamonds, a strong nose and a broad chin, with long strokes fanning outward to form a mane like the rays of the sun. The lines are scratched and smudged, some sharp, some soft, giving the creature an ancient, almost carved quality. Mandie drew and scored into layered paint, letting the face emerge gradually from the surface. There is great warmth in this protector, strength held gently, ready to keep watch over everyone it loves.
Who better to keep watch by the front door? The calm lion suits an entryway, a study, or a child's room. Warm sand and terracotta tones, rattan, and a little leather complement its peachy palette and give the space a steady, protective presence.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
