Handwritten Feelings
Mixed media on panel
12" x 12"
Like a note scrawled in a hurry and never sent, thick white strokes loop, stretch and dip across a ground of dark moss, charcoal and smoky olive. Some lines end in round swells, others wander into a looping scribble along the bottom, almost legible, almost a word. Fine cracks run through the white paint where it dried and shrank, and tiny touches of pink and turquoise hide in its surface. Beneath, the darker layers are swept and smudged with patches of earthy brown. Mandie let the white flow from her hand like writing, then allowed time to crack it open. It reads as a private message, tender and a little unguarded.
Like a letter kept in a drawer, this small painting rewards those who live with it. Tuck it into a study, onto a bookshelf or within a gallery wall, alongside leather, walnut, brass and stacks of old books that suit its dark moss and charcoal palette.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
