Heart in the Rain
Mixed media on panel
14" x 11"
A red heart glows at the center of a pale, misty ground, glossy and full, its surface traced with swirling ridges like ripples on a pond. All around it, long dark lines fall from the top edge in steady streams, rain running down a window. Where the drips begin, a band of tiny cells crackles in pink, gold and green, the only hint of the storm's own color. Mandie let the paint run of its own weight, and the drips passed by the heart without dimming it. It speaks of love that stays warm through sorrow, steady and bright even on the grayest day.
Give it to someone you love, or keep it for yourself on a nightstand, a writing desk, or a bedroom wall. Crimson velvet, soft gray textiles, and a flickering candle nearby make its glossy red heart glow even warmer on rainy evenings.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
