Held
Mixed media on panel
24" x 24"
A dark figure stands at the center of a soft gray field, arms stretched wide, its matte black surface thick and solid against the gentle haze. Above, a band of lilac and violet spills over the top edge, and from it fall long drips of periwinkle, mint and luminous lime, streaming down like rain or light, passing behind and around the figure without disturbing its stillness. The contrast is quiet and powerful: weight and lightness, shadow and glow. Mandie tilted the panel and let the drips trace their own course. The work feels sheltering and steady, a reminder of being carried through the storm.
Comforting in its embrace, Held brings a quiet strength to a bedroom, a study, or a hallway. Soft gray and lilac textiles, black metal accents, and a wool throw create a calm, sheltering setting for the end of a long day.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
