Hush I
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
A soft current of lavender and gold moves on a long diagonal, as quiet as breath on a winter window. Pale violet drifts in from the top, while warm ochre and white veins spread through the center like sunlight on sand. Dark specks scatter along the lower right, small and grounding. The surface is marbled and finely textured, full of tiny cells and lacy patterns where the poured layers pulled apart. Mandie tipped the narrow panel and let the colors slide over one another, each vein a small surprise. The mood is hushed and private, the kind of stillness that settles after everyone has gone to sleep.
Slender and serene, Hush I slips into narrow spaces: beside a bathroom mirror, between bedroom windows, or along a quiet hallway. Hung alone or with Hush II and III as a set, it brings a soft breath of lavender and gold to the room.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
