Interlude
Mixed media on panel
20" x 20"
On a deep midnight blue ground, a band of thick, combed gray paint stretches across the center like a resting place, and over it, short vertical strokes of scarlet, orange, lemon, deep teal, cobalt and plum stand side by side like notes in a pause between movements. The colors are dragged and swirled into one another, leaving visible ridges and streaks where the knife passed through. Edges stay rough and lively against the smooth dark background. Mandie applied the paint generously and pulled it down by hand, allowing the colors to mix where they touched. The piece feels like a breath between busy moments, a little stillness to treasure.
Like a pause in a busy day, Interlude gives a hallway, study, or powder room a moment of quiet color. Navy or charcoal walls make the bright strokes glow, while a brass sconce and a small stone dish keep the mood refined.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
