Intermezzo
Mixed media on canvas
48" x 24"
Between two bright movements comes a softer passage. At the top, a small plate fixed to the surface glows with coral, tangerine and cream, the grain of its surface swirling faintly beneath the spray. Then the canvas opens into a band of warm yellow and a great arching wave of cobalt and violet, rising like a hill at dusk. Near the bottom, a second plate gathers sky blue, periwinkle and gold, scattered with tiny white specks like the first stars coming out. Mandie layered the mist of color across both the canvas and the pieces fixed upon it, letting the seams become part of the music. The painting feels like a pause between songs, quiet, warm and full of gentle anticipation.
A cheerful pause on any wall, it fits a breakfast nook, a sunny landing or a creative studio. Coral and tangerine accents, a cream sofa and rattan lighting keep its warm passage glowing, and the small plate on its surface invites a closer look.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
