Islands of Feeling
Mixed media on panel
20" x 20"
A deep teal island floats in the middle of a sunlit sea, its heart dusted with raw yellow pigment that sits on the surface like pollen. Beneath it, a pale lilac shore holds a scatter of dark, gritty grains, and all around the ground shifts from mustard and butter yellow to a blush of peach in the upper corner. Over everything runs a fine pattern of tiny circles, pressed into the paint from a sheet of bubbled plastic, so the whole scene seems seen through a screen of light. Mandie dusted, pressed and layered with curiosity, letting the powders land in uneven drifts. Each patch of color feels like a separate mood, distinct yet connected, all part of one tender inner landscape.
Think of a quiet corner: a bedroom nook, a reading chair by the window, a bathroom with warm stone. Its teal and pale lilac feel restful, and a touch of mustard in a pillow or a ceramic piece will echo the pollen bright yellow at its heart.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
