Joyride
Mixed media on panel
18" x 18"
Windows down, music up, the whole world rushing past. Thick ribbons of royal blue, red, green, yellow and orange race diagonally across the panel from corner to corner, overlapping and splitting apart like lanes on an open road. Two short strokes of indigo bracket the scene at opposite corners, as if marking the start and the finish. The paint is lush and glossy, dotted with tiny pits and bubbles that catch the light, and in places one color bleeds into the next with a soft fringe. Mandie poured the ribbons in quick, sweeping motions and raised one corner of the panel to send them flying. It is pure momentum, bright and carefree, the thrill of going nowhere in particular and loving every mile.
Full of motion and fun, it brings instant energy to a kitchen, a home office or a teenager's room. Crisp white or bold navy walls both work, and colorful books, vinyl records and a playful mix of furniture let its spirit carry through the whole space.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
